Contact Clipper Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data Contact Clipper collects or handles, how it is used, where it is stored, who it is shared with, and the choices you control.

01

What Contact Clipper handles

Contact Clipper scans the active browser tab only when you open or run the extension. It may process visible email addresses, phone numbers, mailto links, tel links, social profile links, the page title, the page URL, and your selected scan settings.

For Pro licence activation and account checks, we handle the email address and licence key you enter, a generated browser device ID, and an optional browser/device label. For purchases, PayPal provides the payer email address and order ID needed to issue the licence.

02

How the data is used

Scan results are used to show, filter, copy, export, and optionally save contact details in the extension. Account data is used to activate Pro features, check licence status, prevent one licence being active on multiple browsers at once, send licence emails, process support requests, and maintain purchase records.

We do not sell contact data, build enrichment profiles, run background web crawling, or use scan results for advertising.

03

Local storage in your browser

The extension stores settings, selected contacts, recent scan results, scan history if enabled, blocklist entries, licence status, masked licence details, and the generated browser device ID in local extension storage on your device.

You can clear results and history inside the extension. You can also remove locally stored extension data by uninstalling Contact Clipper or clearing the extension's site data in your browser.

04

Server storage

Contact Clipper stores licence records on our server database. These records include a hashed licence key, the purchaser email address, plan, order ID, PayPal order ID, licence status, issue and expiry dates, and active browser device information used for activation and deactivation.

Current extension scan results are not uploaded to Contact Clipper servers for storage. Copying and CSV export happen in your browser. The compose-email action opens a local email draft using your selected contacts rather than sending them through our email server.

05

Sharing and processors

We share data only as needed to provide the product. PayPal processes payments and provides payment/order details. Resend may process licence delivery emails and support-related email communications. Neon or our database hosting provider stores licence records. Vercel or our hosting provider serves the website and API routes and may process normal technical logs.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users, or to investigate abuse. We do not sell personal information or share scan results with data brokers.

06

Security

Licence keys are stored server-side as hashes where practical, and activation requests are sent over HTTPS. Access to production systems is limited to what is needed to operate and support Contact Clipper.

No browser extension or website can guarantee perfect security, but the product is designed to minimize unnecessary transfer of page contact data.

07

Retention and deletion

Local scan data remains on your browser until you clear it, disable history, remove the extension, or clear extension storage. Server licence records are kept while needed to provide Pro access, manage refunds or abuse, satisfy accounting requirements, and handle support.

You can request account or licence data deletion by emailing support@contactclipper.com. We may need to retain limited transaction records where required for legal, tax, fraud-prevention, or dispute purposes.

08

Your choices

You choose which page to scan and which contacts to copy, export, or include in an email draft. You can turn scan options, history, and Pro-only blocklist settings on or off in the extension.

You can deactivate a Pro licence from the extension or account page before using it on another browser.

09

Children and sensitive use

Contact Clipper is not directed to children. Do not use the extension to collect or process sensitive personal data unless you have a lawful basis and the required permissions to do so.

10

Policy updates and contact

We may update this policy when the product, providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date below shows when this version took effect.
